I'm okay with a bit of humor in action movies, especially ones that have a modicum of self-awareness. That doesn't mean I want a bunch of meta jokes, but part of the formula is to mix suspense and laughs, and I think this handled the balance fairly well. Also, when you've got Simon Pegg, comedy is sort of inevitable. But I can see where it can be irritating if you're more tuned in for the set pieces and thrills.
